A Modern Community Center for All Residents, Ages, and Neighborhoods
THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY
For over 75 years, Barrett Community Center has been the heart of Belmont—first as an elementary school, and for the last 43 years as a community center - where families gather, youth learn and grow, and neighbors come together. Today, it primarily serves youth, but the vision is for a new community center that will serve all 27,000 residents with programs for every age and background.
The building, constructed in 1949 when Belmont had only 5,500 residents, is deteriorating beyond repair. Roofs leak, systems fail, and safety concerns mount. Every delay brings us closer to losing this vital community resource. Now it's time to build a modern, safe, and resilient center that will serve Belmont for the next 75 years.
WHY NOW
Built in 1949
The building is deteriorating beyond repair. Roofs leak, systems fail, and safety concerns mount. Continuing to patch a 75-year-old structure means wasting money and risking sudden closure.
Belmont Has Grown
Built for 5,500 residents, we've outgrown our community center and need a facility that meets today's needs and provides critical emergency resource capabilities.
Time to Act
Delays risk losing programs and costly alternative solutions.. The time to invest in our community's future is now—before a crisis forces our hand.
